One of the descendants of the famous Roksolana became the mother of a Ukrainian woman from Podillia - Nadiya, who was named Hatidje Turkhan in the harem of Sultan Brahim Bozevilny. She lived in the stormy years of the middle of the 17th century, full of rebellions in the provinces of the Ottoman Empire, riots of janissaries in Constantinople (now Istanbul). Unfortunately, this sultana is little known in Ukraine. Candidate of Art Studies, author of popular science books "Roksolana: Myths and Realities" (2015, 2nd ed. 2016), "Roksolana's Letters: Love and Diplomacy" (2017), "Women's Sultanate: Power and Love" (2019) Oleksandra Shutko wrote a three-part novel about Hatice Turkhan based on historical facts, archival materials and research by Turkish, American and Western European scientists.
The third volume is devoted to the last twenty years of the life of this sultana, who stood up for the Ukrainian Cossacks. Hetman Petro Doroshenko not only received the protectorate of her son, Mehmed the Fourth, but also joined forces with him for the campaign to Kamianets (now the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi) and Khotyn in 1672–1673. Hetman Yury Khmelnytskyi became his successor.
The Ottomans ruled Podilla until 1699 after the death of Khatija Turhan. The last years of her life were spent in a confrontation with her daughter-in-law, Haseki Gulnush, from whom she protected her stepsons Suleiman and Ahmed, who were the first in the line of heirs to the Ottoman throne.
Valide Turhan is also known as a great philanthropist. After the construction of the grandiose New Mosque in Constantinople, she took care of the fate of pilgrims to Mecca and Medina and built a mosque in honor of brother Yusuf in the area where the Bosphorus flows into the Black Sea.
Valide Turkhan built the largest tomb for herself in the capital of the Ottoman Empire, to which there is a real pilgrimage among the Turks, who greatly respect her memory.
