This edition contains letters from the representatives of the "Women's Sultanate" in the Ottoman Empire, which shed light on their style of business and even their character, and are published for the first time in Ukrainian. It concerns the love correspondence of Hürrem (Roxelana) with her husband, Sultan Suleiman, and diplomatic correspondence with Hungarian Queen Isabella Jagiellon, Polish King Sigismund II Augustus, and Persian Princess Sultan. At the same time, it includes messages from Roxelana's successors — Valide Nurbanu and Safiye, addressed to the Venetian Doge, French Queen Catherine de' Medici, and English Queen Elizabeth I. Letters from Ukrainian Valide Kösem and Ukrainian Hatice Turhan (Nadiya), which they wrote to the Grand Viziers and other dignitaries, are also translated into Ukrainian.
The book extensively highlights previously unknown facts about the biographies of these women in Ukraine, derived not only from their personal correspondence but also from archival documents of Turkey, Italy, France, England, and Poland, Ottoman chronicles, and discoveries by Turkish scholars. All of this will allow the reader to assess the role and influence of women on state affairs and to better understand the processes that took place at that time in the Ottoman Empire and the world during the 16th–17th centuries.
